3 Simple Ways to Support Your Immune System This Fall, With Brit

Hi, Brit here!

Fall naturally invites us to slow down. As a holistic nutritionalist and busy mom, when the days get shorter and temperatures drop, I like to focus on simple habits that nourish, restore and support my (and my family’s) bodies.

Here are three of my favourite ways to support immune health this season:

1. Nourish Your Body With Warming, Nutrient-Dense Foods

As the weather cools, I love soups, stews, roasted vegetables, bone broth and slow-cooked meals. They are comforting, easy to prepare and packed with nourishing ingredients.

One family favourite is carrot ginger soup, made with carrots, fresh ginger and bone broth. For extra nourishment, add turmeric for its naturally occurring curcumin or blend in red lentils for plant-based protein and fibre.

A balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, legumes, whole grains and other nutrient-dense foods provides vitamins, minerals and compounds that support normal immune function. Vitamins A, C and D, zinc and selenium all play important roles, although no single food or supplement can prevent illness. (ods.od.nih.gov)

2. Bring Herbs and Simple Wellness Rituals Into Your Day

Fresh ginger and lemon in warm water, along with herbal teas like chamomile or peppermint, can make simple wellness rituals feel cozy and enjoyable.

Also consider what your body may need less of: less rushing, screen time and skipped meals; more sleep, fresh air and time outside.

Sleep is especially important. While it cannot guarantee that you will not get sick, consistent, restorative sleep supports immune regulation and overall resilience. (pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov)

3. Get Outside and Follow the Light

As daylight decreases, I make time for morning light, fresh air and gentle movement. Even a short walk can support your daily rhythm.

You can also use this time for grounding: pause, breathe and connect with the earth. We know that the formal grounding research is still emerging, and preliminary studies have explored possible effects on inflammation, circulation, sleep and stress. (pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov)

For me, grounding is a simple way to spend time outdoors and create a calming daily ritual. And as the weather shifts, integrating my grounding into my routines has been a creative project! I like to use my Universal Mat while I do my make up, Universal Band during my quick morning yoga, and a Grounding Mattress cover while I sleep.

Make Fall About Supporting Your Body

You do not need a complicated wellness routine. Start with nourishing food, simple herbal rituals, natural light and time outside.

As we spend more time indoors, our grounding products can offer a practical way to create a dedicated moment of connection while working, resting or winding down.

Small, consistent choices can create a strong foundation for seasonal wellness.

This fall, ask yourself: What can I do today to support my body?

That is where I like to begin.
